Marlou Fernanda, waar ga ik heen? - BAM

  • Date: 02 October
  • Time: 19:15
  • Location: FIlmhuis Den Haag

This event will be taking place in Dutch.

Multidisciplinary artist Marlou Fernanda is in search of meaning, creativity, and spirituality. For years, the Rotterdam-based artist has stood out with her visual work, which explores major themes such as loneliness, racial inequality, and existential questions.

Known for her colorful works featuring portraits of her own face, her style is increasingly shifting toward abstract forms. Documentary filmmaker Denise Janzée follows her in her studio and during a project in New York, where her search takes shape. Marlou speaks openly about her parents’ divorce and the muscle disease that affects her mother’s ability to speak. Her experiences drive her to weave language, emotion, and art together. Determined, vulnerable, and constantly in motion, she shows how personal experiences can transform into fresh and vibrant art.

After the film, there will be a live Q&A with Marlou Fernanda.
