Just Peace Movie Night x The Ocean and Us: Women from the Sea
- Date: 05 June
- Time: 18:00 - 21:00
- Location: The Hague Humanity Hub
Women from the Sea - Significant Gestures spotlights the women at the forefront of ocean conservation and protection.
Join us for a meaningful evening organised by The Ocean and Us and The Hague Humanity Hub, as part of the Just Peace Movie Night Series.
On 5 June, we will screen Women from the Sea (Mulheres do Mar) - Significant Gestures: a poetic documentary by Portuguese director Raquel Martins. Through intimate interviews with women dedicated to safeguarding our oceans, the film explores their personal connections to the sea, revealing stories of care, resilience, and responsibility that challenge and deepen our understanding of our relationship with the ocean.
This film is part of a journey that has been unfolding over time, shaped by encounters, shared paths, and stories that stay with us. Through these women's stories, the film reflects on the urgency of protecting the ocean and celebrates the collective strength of women to inspire change and care for our shared future. Ultimately, Women from the Sea shows that small, meaningful gestures can, over time, reshape what once felt immovable.
After the screening, we will explore the critical ocean challenges and solutions raised during the film through a moderated panel discussion in collaboration with Farah Obaidullah of The Ocean and Us. We will announce the speakers soon!
