Babylon - London Calling

  • Date: 18 April
  • Time: 18:30 - 20:35
  • Location: Filmhuis Den Haag

A socially conscious drama about a young reggae DJ of Jamaican heritage in London who dreams of success with his sound system. As he prepares for a major competition, he faces racism, police harassment, and tensions at work and in his neighborhood. Music becomes both an outlet and a source of identity. At the same time, he must confront the realities of being a young Black Brit in Thatcher-era Britain. The film offers a vivid portrait of culture, resistance, and community.

Before the film, Ghamte Schmidt will introduce the screening. Afterward, we invite DJ Garnet for live music in the café.
