A compelling look at Dutch reporting and representation of the Indonesian War of Independence (1945–1949). This two-part film examines how media, government, and propaganda worked together to present the colonial war in the Dutch East Indies as a “mission of order and restoration.” The focus is on how, from 1945 onwards, the Dutch government and media framed military intervention in Indonesia as a necessary “police action.”
