National Peace Week Lecture

  • Date: 26 September
  • Time: 20:00
  • Location: Nieuwe Kerk, Den Haag

As part of the National Peace Week, PAX annually organizes the National Peace Week Lecture.
On Friday 26 September, Mariëlle Vavier, alderwoman of The Hague, and PAX director Rolien Sasse will open the evening in the Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague. Afterwards, journalist and media maker Tim Hofman will share his vision on the 2025 Peace Week theme. Following the lecture, Nadia Moussaid will engage in a conversation with Hofman. We will conclude with a reception, providing space to continue the discussion and meet one another.

An evening like this – where we seek connection, build bridges where possible, and stand up against injustice where necessary – is urgently needed. Too often we are confronted with injustice, both at home and abroad. Much is at stake, whether in Sudan, Gaza, and Ukraine, or in the direction the Netherlands itself is heading. We cannot and must not look away from injustice: doing nothing is not an option.

Tim Hofman is a journalist and media maker. More importantly, Hofman is a passionate advocate for justice. His fight against injustice, his commitment to social issues, and his ability to inspire people to think and act through journalism and personal reflection make him an ideal speaker to challenge us with his reflections on this year’s Peace Week theme.

Nadia Moussaid, journalist and presenter, will lead the conversation with Hofman after the lecture, with room for questions from the audience. We will end the evening with a reception, offering an opportunity to meet and talk further.

This event takes place in Dutch.
