- Location: Location is to be announced

With great pleasure, we invite you to the high-level event ‘Reinforcing Resilience: The Role of Women, Peace and Security in NATO's Eastern Border Security’ on Monday, June 23, 2025, in The Hague.
This event is organized by WO=MEN Dutch Gender Platform and Newcastle University – both part of NATO's Civil Society Advisory Panel on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) – in collaboration with King's College London, and supported by the British Economic and Social Research Council.
Purpose of the High-Level Event
This exclusive event brings together government officials, policymakers, military personnel, academics, and civil society experts ahead of the NATO summit. The focus of the meeting is on the ongoing relevance of Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in the face of current geopolitical challenges, such as NATO's enhanced readiness and responsiveness to security threats on the eastern flank of the NATO treaty area and the Eastern European region. This high-level event provides an opportunity for like-minded to reaffirm their commitment to Women, Peace and Security and to continue to stand together for WPS as a central part of NATO's strategic discussions.
Background
This year is a special year: the Netherlands is hosting the NATO Summit at a time when the Alliance is more important than ever. In this same year, we celebrate the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security (WPS). The adoption of UNSC Resolution 1325 was a historic achievement, as it recognizes the crucial role of women and the importance of perspectives in peace and security to date. Just last year, NATO adopted a new WPS policy, as peace and security for all is precisely what the Alliance must protect together.
