A cinematic documentary that reveals the existence of contemporary slave trade on the Indonesian island of Sumba. While investigating a human trafficking case, local activist Jeremy Kewuan meets a Maramba shaman who strongly believes in his ancestral right to own slaves. Into all this comes an 8-year-old girl who has been enslaved. According to local tradition, the Ata people must serve the Maramba masters for generations and, after their death, be buried alongside their masters. With the help of a former slave and through countless confrontations with slave owners, tribal chiefs and his own convictions... Jeremy finally manages to fight for the young girl's freedom. A small victory in the ongoing struggle against human abuse, while the Queen of the island still owns hundreds of slaves awaiting emancipation.
