- Location: Flora Filmtheater

This Earth Day, Honeyland offers a poignant and powerful lens through which to explore the deep interconnection between people and the planet. As part of the Just Peace Movie Night series, this Oscar-nominated documentary is more than a film—it’s a quiet, profound meditation on climate justice, resilience, and the fragile balance of nature.
About Honeyland
At the heart of Honeyland is Hatidze, a lone beekeeper in the remote mountains of North Macedonia, whose traditional, sustainable way of harvesting honey speaks volumes about harmony with nature. But when that balance is disrupted, we witness how quickly environmental degradation and exploitation spiral into personal and ecological crisis.
Honeyland doesn’t preach—it shows. It reveals how human survival is intertwined with respect for natural systems, how greed can destroy centuries-old practices, and how resilience can emerge in the face of exploitation and environmental collapse.
Celebrated for both its artistry and its impact, Honeyland received the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Documentary, the Special Jury Award for Cinematography and the Special Jury Award for Impact for Change at the Sundance Film Festival, among other awards, affirming its powerful message and cinematic excellence.
On Earth Day, screening Honeyland invites reflection on the quiet wisdom of living within nature’s limits. It highlights the justice at stake when ecosystems are destroyed, and reminds us that peace is not just the absence of conflict, but the presence of balance between human and ecological communities.
