“The way women treat you tells you everything you need to know about you.”
— Andrew Tate

What drives a young man to use violence against a woman simply because she rejects him?

In I am Andrew, Girls in Woods dives into the online manosphere — a world dominated by influencers like Andrew Tate. A space filled with pick-up artists, looksmaxxing, manipulation tactics, and misogyny. Femke Arnouts and Tim van Dongen reconstruct the story of a young man who, fuelled by thousands of videos, commits an act of violence against a young woman who turns him down.

In a setting where the online and physical worlds collide, they embody the young man, his victim, his male and female role models — and Andrew Tate himself.

With humour and radical empathy, Girls in Woods ventures deep into the manosphere. Motivated by a desire, as young women, to live safely and freely, they make a bold attempt to understand, confront, and find a new answer to the question:

What does masculinity mean?
