Festival Sounds of Us

  • Date: 26 November
  • Time: 19:00
  • Location: Filmhuis Den Haag

From Afro beats to Caribbean rhythms, from spoken word and rap to film: the Sounds of Us Festival brings the stories of the African diaspora to life in the heart of The Hague. Once again this year, Filmhuis Den Haag is joining the festival and we will be delving deeper into the cinematic narratives of filmmakers from the African diaspora. This edition, we will be screening two short films: Hobi by Aramis Garcia Gonzalez and Sunny by German Gruber.

Hobi tells the story of smooth talker Hobi, who tries to smooth things over with his wife. But during his day off, he runs out of smooth talk and, longing for Aruba, makes a choice in this comedy that has major consequences for him and his family. Sunny is a coming-of-age drama about a Curaçao boy who is about to leave for the Netherlands to study. Before his departure, he meets his friends, plays the guitar and thinks back on his ex-girlfriend. He makes an important decision.
