BECOMING Body Politics

  • Date: 28 February
  • Time: 20:00 - 00:00
  • Location: Het Nationale Theater, Zaal 3

BECOMING is a fluid bubble full of depth. Each edition is unique and offers a different queer perspective on identity and sexuality. Audience and artists immerse themselves together in intimacy, celebration, sensuality, dialogue, art, and glitter! At BECOMING, the motto is: more is better, vulnerability is strength, celebration is depth, and everyone is queer!

In Hall 3, we present three editions: Decolonized, Trans & Loved, and Body Politics.

Welcome to BECOMING Body Politics, the third edition of the series in The Hague. Curated by Nilay Ceber and Hasan Gök, this edition explores the different facets of the body positivity movement and celebrates the bodies leading this revolution.

How do we create space to radically love ourselves in a world full of unrealistic beauty standards, where fat bodies, disabled bodies, hairy bodies, sick bodies, old bodies, queer bodies, and so many others are portrayed negatively?

BECOMING is always a mix of English (80%) and Dutch (20%), with some non-verbal elements as well. The presentation is in simple English, though some acts or interviews may be in Dutch.

Even if you don’t speak Dutch, it’s absolutely worth attending—most of it is understandable!
